Clarity Labs
Find your panel

Getting started

Clarity Labs gives you lab-grade insight into your health without needing a doctor's referral, then translates the numbers into plain English so you know what they mean and what to do next. You choose a panel, get one blood draw at a collection centre near you, and see your results in a secure dashboard with clear context. We're not a replacement for your doctor. We're the guide that helps you have a better conversation with them.

We're built for healthy adults who want to understand and optimise their health, not for diagnosing illness. If you're feeling well and want a clearer picture of your energy, hormones, heart or metabolic markers, that's exactly who we're for. If you have symptoms or a specific medical concern, please see your GP first. Some things need a doctor from the very start.

Yes. You can order your own blood tests without a GP visit. We issue the pathology request for you, and your blood is collected and processed at the same NATA-accredited labs the medical system uses. It's designed for healthy adults who want insight rather than diagnosis, so if you have symptoms, please see your GP first. We walk through the whole process in how to get a blood test without a GP.

No. After you order, we issue a valid pathology request from an Australian health practitioner. That request is the document you take to your collection appointment. You don't need to involve a doctor to access your results, and if you'd like to share them, you can download a doctor-ready PDF from your dashboard at any time.

Yes, when it's done responsibly. We're built for healthy adults who want insight, not for diagnosing illness. Every sample is processed by NATA-accredited labs, and if a result falls in a critical range you'll see the lab's urgent flag straight away, with clear guidance to call 000 or seek care if needed. If you have symptoms or a medical concern, please start with your GP.

It's three steps. First, choose your panel and check out online. Second, we email you a pathology request. Third, take it (with photo ID) to a participating collection centre for one blood draw. Most results land in your secure dashboard within 2–5 days, each with a plain-English explanation and clear next steps.

Our service is for adults aged 18 and over. We're not set up to test children or teenagers. For anyone under 18, your GP is the right place to start.

To walk into your next appointment better informed. We cover markers a standard Medicare panel often skips, like ApoB, Lp(a) and fasting insulin, track your numbers over time, and explain each result in plain English so you know which questions are worth asking. The goal is to complement your GP, never to replace them.

Three things. Evidence transparency: every test is labelled by how much mainstream medical weight it carries, so there are no surprises. Honest expectations: we tell you upfront when a marker has limited acceptance rather than overselling it. And a curated selection: carefully chosen panels instead of an overwhelming menu of options. Like them, we process everything at NATA-accredited labs.

Choosing your tests

Every test carries a label so you know how much weight it holds. Standard Care markers are ones your GP will recognise and usually act on, like TSH, cholesterol and vitamin D. Targeted Testing markers are gaining acceptance but often need clinical context, like ApoB or insulin-resistance markers. Emerging Research markers are popular in wellness circles but have limited mainstream adoption. We show the tier before you order, so the choice is yours with your eyes open.

We offer markers that go deeper than a routine panel. ApoB is often a better signal of heart-disease risk than standard LDL. Lp(a) is a largely genetic cardiovascular risk factor you usually only need to check once. Fasting insulin can flag insulin resistance well before glucose shifts. We also offer comprehensive hormone panels (testosterone, oestrogen, cortisol) and full thyroid panels (T3, T4 and antibodies), for when TSH alone doesn't tell the whole story.

Begin with a broad baseline, then add targeted markers for the things you actually want answers on, whether that's heart, hormones, energy or metabolic health. Every panel page explains what each marker tells you, and you can build your own if you'd prefer. If you're not sure where to start, the Baseline Check is a sensible first step.

Often, yes. Our build-your-own option lets you add individual markers to a baseline. A small number of tests are specialist-only and shown for education rather than sale, because they need a specialist's input to order and interpret safely. We'll always tell you when that's the case.

It depends on the marker, not the calendar. Some are worth repeating every few months to track a change. Others, like Lp(a), you generally only need to measure once in your life. We build in sensible guardrails and flag when a retest is too soon to be useful, so you're not paying for numbers that won't have moved.

Yes. Every sample is processed at NATA-accredited laboratories (Sonic Healthcare), the same labs the medical system relies on, using standard reference ranges. NATA accreditation means the lab meets Australia's national standards for pathology testing.

Pricing & payment

It depends on what you choose, with individual tests from $45 and panels from $169, shown clearly on every panel page. You pay once for the tests you choose, with no membership and no separate consult fee added on top. Because it's private testing, it's self-pay, with no Medicare rebate.

No. Every order is a one-off purchase. You pay for the tests you choose, and that's it. There's no membership, no auto-renewal and no surprise charges. If we suggest a retest down the track, it's based on your biology and the guidelines, and it's entirely your choice whether to order again.

The price you see covers your chosen tests, the pathology request, the lab processing, and your results in a secure dashboard with plain-English explanations. There are no separate service fees added at the end.

No. Because you're ordering privately, without a Medicare-eligible GP request, these tests are entirely self-pay and aren't eligible for a Medicare rebate. We don't collect Medicare numbers. A few private health 'extras' policies treat pathology differently, so it's worth asking your fund, but most won't cover self-requested tests.

Yes. You'll receive an email confirmation with your receipt after you order. If you need anything reissued, just email support@claritylabs.com.au.

If a test can't be completed for reasons outside your control, such as an insufficient sample or a collection issue, we'll arrange a repeat at no extra cost. Beyond that, refunds follow our Refunds Matrix and your rights under Australian Consumer Law. We can't refund simply because a result wasn't what you'd hoped, since your numbers reflect your actual health. If something has gone wrong, please talk to us and we'll make it right where we can.

Before your test

It depends on the test. Some, like glucose, fasting insulin and certain lipid panels, ask you to fast (usually water only) for a set number of hours. Many others need no fasting at all. The exact preparation for your panel is shown on the panel page and printed on your pathology request, so follow that. If you're unsure, the collection centre can confirm before you sit down.

Keep taking prescribed medications as normal unless your doctor has told you otherwise. Please don't stop anything for a test without speaking to them first. Some supplements can affect certain lab assays (high-dose biotin, also called B7, common in hair-and-nail formulas, is the usual culprit), so it helps to mention any supplements you take. If in doubt, check with your GP or the collection centre.

For some hormone tests, yes. Certain markers are best measured on specific days of your cycle. Where timing matters, we note it on the panel page and your request so you can book the right day. If you're not cycling, or you're unsure, your GP can advise on the best timing for your situation.

If you're pregnant, it's best to test through your GP or maternity team rather than with us. Pregnancy shifts many normal ranges, and some tests aren't appropriate during pregnancy, so your results need to be read in that context. We're built for general health optimisation, not pregnancy care.

It's usually best to wait until you've recovered. An acute illness like a cold, flu or infection can temporarily skew markers such as inflammation and iron, so your results may not reflect your usual baseline. And if you're unwell enough to be worried, please see your GP rather than ordering a test.

Two things: your pathology request (we email it after you order, and printed or on your phone is fine) and a photo ID. That's all you need.

It's the official form that tells the lab which tests to run, issued by an Australian health practitioner once you order. It's the same kind of form a GP would hand you, and it's what makes your collection appointment possible. We email it to you right after checkout.

Getting your blood drawn

At any participating collection centre. Your pathology request is valid across 1,900+ NATA-accredited centres in the Sonic Healthcare network, right across Australia. After you order, find your nearest centre and head in.

Yes. The network includes many regional and rural towns. Some smaller centres open only on certain days, so it's worth calling ahead to confirm hours. Specialised tests collected regionally can take a little longer, as the sample may travel to a reference lab.

Many Sonic centres accept walk-ins, but some prefer or require a booking, and booking usually means less waiting. We'd recommend checking your chosen centre's hours and booking options before you head in.

The blood draw itself usually takes just a few minutes. Allowing for check-in and any wait, most people are in and out within 15 to 30 minutes.

Usually just a few small tubes. The exact amount depends on how many markers are in your panel, but it's a routine draw, the same as a standard blood test at your GP.

Occasionally a sample can't be processed: it might clot, be too small, or be affected in transit. If that happens, we'll let you know and arrange a repeat collection at no extra cost, so you're never out of pocket for something outside your control.

Not at the moment. Our standard service is collection at a centre, which keeps quality high and costs down, so we don't currently offer at-home blood collection. With 1,900+ centres nationwide, though, there's usually one close by.

Your results

Most standard panels (iron studies, thyroid, lipids, vitamins) come back within 2–5 days. Hormone panels can take a little longer, and a few specialised assays longer still, occasionally up to around ten business days. We'll email you the moment they're ready.

We'll send you an email, and your results will appear in your secure dashboard. There's no need to keep checking back. We'll let you know.

Different markers run on different machines and timelines, so a panel often returns in stages, with the quicker assays first and the specialised ones later. Pending simply means that test is still being processed. It's completely normal, and nothing is wrong.

Each result comes with a plain-English explanation of what the marker measures, where you sit, and what that might mean, plus suggested questions to raise with your doctor. We highlight what's worth discussing so you're informed rather than overwhelmed. These are educational explanations, not a diagnosis.

Biological age is an estimate from PhenoAge, a published model developed by Levine and colleagues at Yale that uses nine standard blood markers plus your real age. When your panel includes enough of those markers, we show it as one easy-to-read number you can track over time. It's an educational estimate drawn from research, not a medical verdict.

If a result falls in a critical range, you'll see the lab's urgent flag in your dashboard straight away, along with clear guidance, including to call 000 or seek urgent care if needed. We take safety seriously and never leave a critical result sitting quietly.

Read the explanations, note the suggested questions, and take the ones that matter to your next appointment. The aim is a more productive conversation with your GP. We help you understand your numbers, and your doctor helps you decide what to do about them.

Sharing with your doctor

For Standard Care and Targeted Testing markers, generally yes. They're processed at the same NATA-accredited labs the medical system uses, with standard reference ranges, and formatted for a practitioner to read. For Emerging Research markers, acceptance varies from doctor to doctor, which is exactly why we label every test's tier up front.

Yes. From your dashboard you can download a doctor-ready PDF summary to email, print, or hand over at an appointment, with the context and reference ranges included so your GP can read it at a glance.

We don't automatically send results to your GP, which keeps you in control of who sees them. Instead, you download the doctor-ready PDF from your dashboard and email it or bring it to your appointment, context and reference ranges included.
