Pyridoxine — key to mood, immunity, and homocysteine metabolism
Vitamin B6 is essential for making serotonin and noradrenaline — deficiency may contribute to depression, fatigue, and nerve symptoms.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is involved in over 100 enzyme reactions, including the synthesis of neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, GABA), haemoglobin production, and homocysteine metabolism. Deficiency is more common in older adults, people with kidney disease, those taking certain medications (oral contraceptives, isoniazid), and people with high alcohol intake. Notably, very high supplemental doses of B6 can cause toxicity and peripheral neuropathy.
Your B6 level is within the expected range
On the higher side — if you take B6 supplements, consider reviewing your dose with your healthcare practitioner
Low B6 may contribute to mood changes, fatigue, or nerve symptoms — discuss with your healthcare practitioner
High B6 from supplementation can cause peripheral neuropathy — discuss with your healthcare practitioner
